Runebergstårta post card

Fredrika Runeberg (1807-1879) was a finnish writer, journalist ja feminist, whose husband Johan is known as our countrys national poet. Runeberg is also known as the creator of this delicious pastry with almonds and punch or rhum. Most likely this is not exactly the truth, and Fredrika just got the recipe from a familiar baker. But maybe Fredrika herself would appreciate the lore around this confectionery - after all she was one of our nations first fictional novel writers. She also spent her childhood and adolescence in Turku! Maybe the Paris of Finland inspired her work not only as a writer, but also as the creator of delicious cakes? If not, at least we can imagine so.
