Aurajoen eliksiiri magnet

Two of the features that make Turku dialect so recognizable is, firstly, our way of speaking in negatives, especially for the most positive of subjects. And secondly, the phrase "niin pal" (so much). "niin pal kauhia" can be directly translated to "so much terrible/awful", but this is usually just the first half of the sentence! It could be something like "niin pal kauhian ihana" (lovely) or "niin pal kauhian nätti" (pretty) or "niin pal kauhian hyvä" (good or delicious). We do speak like this and while it does not confuse other Turkuers, it sure does confuse, well, everyone else.
